Art in the World’s First Garden City – Upcoming Galleries, Exhibitions & Events

Why does the art of ancient Greece still shape our world?

Amphitrite a Greek goddess, one of several who ruled the seas. Originally, she was known as the wife of sea-god Poseidon, but over time, she was set aside as merely his mistress.

A beautiful goddess, she was the daughter of Nereus, a minor sea god, and Doris, a sea nymph. And ancient Greek poet wrote that Poseidon saw her dancing and fell in love with her. Being the God of the Seas, he assumed that he could just carry her off, but she escaped his clutches and ran away, swimming far across the seas to the very end of the water, where there was a place called Atlas.

Amphitrite hid there for some time, but Poseidon was not to be denied. He hunted for her under every barnacle and bit of seaweed, searching among the fishes and sea creatures for his lost love. Frustrated at not being able to find her, he sent the dolphin-god Delphin eventually tracked her down and persuaded her to return to wed the sea-king.

Title: Swarm Intelligence selected finalist work in the Visual Art Open 2019 by Richard Devonshire ICAS gallery artist

Ants have something to teach us about how nature works. Any system whose behaviour arises from the interactions of its components has something in common with ant colonies. Using ants and other social insects as models, computer scientists have developed software agents that cooperate to solve complex problems, such as the rerouting of traffic in a busy telecom network or the internet.

The Swarm Intelligence is one of finalist work in the category of Digital the Visual Art Open 2019 competition is a not-for-profit event open to both amateur and professional artists based in the UK and internationally. THE KICKING DONKEY PROJECT 2019

Donkey as a Spirit, Totem, and Power Animal can help! Donkey teaches you how to balance your responsibilities and to remain surefooted when expressing your opinion.

Historians believe that Donkeys were domesticated by Nubians around 4,500 years ago. In that region, they took over for the Ox as an important pack animal. This position in life leads to Donkey becoming an integral participant in mobilizing pastoral and agricultural communities. They could travel easily over long distances, and even two of the first Egyptian pharaohs valued them enough to give them honorable burials. So, it’s not surprising to see Donkey symbolism and meaning tied together with the growth of civilization, travel, trade and general service. Their versatility and being a beloved beast of burden is legendary.

No matter the region Donkey’s somewhat stubborn nature was an asset. This creature does not move if they perceive any danger. The donkey knows well what he can (and more importantly – can’t) do. As humans learned to trust Donkey’s intuitive senses it often kept them out of trouble. The lesson here from the animal spirit guide world is one of caution. When we have a challenge, look for a safe means of resolving it rather than simply running right ahead.
