Guy Brock’s Children Of Light is very good attempt to bring forth the abstract hidden in colours though mild expressionism needs to be more vivid. Expressionism appears to be bold where the pallet of colours could have been more selective; the light and shadow are not distinct. Perspective is good but Brock has bright future ahead..
Bold and expressive, this piece beautifully depicts the subject and flows with harmony. The compositional rhythm has but one distraction. In the bottom center of the canvas, the contracted mass of yellows and greens setup an opposing tension which some what detracts from the central figure. It causes a sense of distraction to an otherwise fluid concept. In the spirit of Da Vinci, I find this work has aspects beyond prior entries showing a marked move forward in rhythm, color and definition of the subject. – an important transition and beautiful piece.
Thank you for this very expressive submission. I really like the overall art work as it is strongly composed with good balance and a rhythm that leads off and up with the right arm, the colors are cool and warm giving a great push pull to the work. The tones are contrasting with the blue against the yellow, just a little darker in the blue but this works for me. I would like to encourage you to continue to paint with freedom and complete the work all in one sitting. The two painted outlined faces and the little colorful bunch of flowers seems to be an addition to the work later and it does draw the eye away from the total rhythm. It is always noticed if we go back into a work and redo or add or if at the end we slow down the process and begin to think and do details. If we are doing details all though the work then it marries up with no problem. I honor your creative process and these remarks are only for your consideration. If you intended the work to have a portion of detail and wish it to be so, then I respect this. I really look forward to seeing more of your artwork.
The longer this painting is viewed the more interesting it becomes.
The painting has a wonderful spiritual and magical feel. The vibrant yellow area with life like figure bathed in light is full of positive energy and wellbeing.
I look forward to seeing more work from this artist in the future.
