  1. I find the composition expresses excellent light and color values and am particularly intrigued by the structure of the work with the transitions of images through the strong vertical lines having the best effect on the left side of the image. A little less definition of the vertical line on the right or an additional transition across this line giving it slightly less emphasis may have enhanced and unified the overall effect. Yet overall it is a wonderful work.

  2. An interesting and unusual work of art. The totem a
combination of the artists visual interpretation, combined with
media observation of Michael Jackson and his family, an
emblem/figure. The news articles portray the inner strengths of the
family unit during turmoil and difficulty. At the same time the
upper middle of the totem signifies the families incredible
international success as musicians. The crown and writing
signifying this success, the family being well known as the Royal
Family of Pop. The exterior of the totem gives reference to
designer clothing, maybe reference to the appearance of the
performer, the public’s vision of an icon? There are a number of
childlike drawings, maybe individuals outside of the family unit
but in close contact with the family? It would have been helpful to
have viewed close up photographs for further detail and
understanding. I am intrigued to know what significance or
implication the fried egg has in the artists composition.

A novel approach; defining new parameters in painting; mixed media suggest the events within a closed concept and presentation. Fried eggs , what does it represent as Totem? Past? Current events mean something happening; How do we classify? Realism? Expressionism? it is not abstract except the perspective. The Art is changing, more so as painting; is it to be in touch with modern and contemporary OR Novel but convincing standing apart as a piece of beautiful art work?

  4. Hello Mario, Thank you for your submission. I cannot see the date that this work was completed on my screen. Without this I cannot score you but perhaps you have already sent this in. I am checking to see if I can score you or not. I do want to write you a comment because I really appreciate your confident art language. It is easy for me to see that this is a series due to ease of application of the materials. Since our juror Pauline has given you an excellent in depth comment re the content of your art work that I totally agree with, I will talk about the composition as Peter did. This composition is strong but could use a further deeper tone on the right side to balance or the other choice could be to lighten up the left side. I love the texture of this work and feel you have an authentic art language. The totem as an icon in a series makes use of history and you are to be commended for this. I hope you have sent in the date of the work so that I can score you but either way I look forward to seeing more of your art works!
