San Francisco by Romaine Kaufman
My work is characterized by a strong dependence on what appears to be accidental or by chance but is actually highly planned. I am personally concerned with adopting a peaceful, mystical approach to a purely, abstract image. The spontaneity of the approach can draw from the creativity of the unconscious mind. The excessive method of painting is often considered as important as the painting itself.

Absolutely a very good painting.” Creativity From The Unconscious Mind” reflects the deep imprints of many moments combined as a spark in a single identity. Creativity is always present ; what the artist needs is a flash to capture and express. Bravo.
The controlled spontaneity of the work is evident and reflects a high degree of technical skill equaled by a beautiful balance of harmonious colors and rhythmic composition. It’s quality is evident and merits an acknowledgement of the imagination and knowledge of it’s creator. Such a wonderful work deserves special attention to presentation and I would suggest the manner in which the image was cropped is a distraction that could easily be eliminated. Of course this is a very minor criticism which does not deter from the quality of the work but is a consideration of maximizing it’s presentation to the viewer.
Thank you for your submission. This is a strong composition and I really love the texture achieved by palette knife and dripping. The warm dark purples act as an anchor or grounding for the composition. The strokes of yellow and orange allow for easy viewer access and direction in the work. The light blue gives yet another layer for the eye to explore. Your art work is very confident and I believe that you have achieved an authentic art language. I look forward to seeing more of your art work.
I don’t see the peaceful nature of the work as discussed in the artists notes to the painting. I see artwork with a busy chaotic appearance, which perfectly lends itself and is in line with the paintings title. The spontaneous approach and excellent use of colour has worked very well. My only minor concern is that of presentation of the artwork, with regards to cropping, to allow the full and deserved effect to the viewer care needs to be taken in future.
