Can Can by Chris Wood

A line of LEDs is fixed to the front edge of the shelf. The water filled wine glasses become lenses which focus each light into a large droplet of light which is projected onto the wall behind. This is one of the outcomes of my continual experiments with optical materials and light. The blousey nature of the patterns of light reminded me of a line of can can dancers.

  1. The visual perception of the play of shadows and light and how the latter reflects on the water and on the surfaces of the objects and the background create a composition that has the effect of a joyful and relentless movement, whereof seems even possible to hear the sounds.
The arrangement of the glasses seems really a dance group arranged on a stage and I agree with the sensation of Chris Wood in this experiment, that named this work: Can Can.
It is a kaleidoscopic and enchanting work!
