Fields of Gold by Heatherbell
I have done a series of large paintings based on the Devon Landscape at different times of the year. At the height of a good harvest the richness of colour in this painting reflects the title of this famous song Fields of Gold which has been a great favourite ever since I heard it sung by Eva Cassidy who died so tragically young leaving behind a legacy of beautiful songs. Both the painting and prints are for sale.

What I would give to see this image in a larger format. Once again this piece can not be fully appreciated in the size presented. It is evident that the work hasgreat depth acheived by atmospheric perspective shows a great skill with color and experience in working outdoors. The canvas is segmented in a manner that allows linear definition to add to the perception of depth. I am totally intrigued until I see the sky. It leaves me wanting a strong contrast to add greater definition to the land.
Ditto here, I would have loved to see a bigger size picture. I love your colors and perspective and the summery emotion it conveys.
I love this very much; I’m seated here amidst the blond wheatfield like mesmerized by the vastness of the world in harvest time. This kind of view is uneasy to render, in order not to get it “flat” but you used successive “push backs” to give scale & depth plans, like the wild plants in the foreground, the swaying wheat and various tree lines. Great find also for the golden zone gets sharpened through the distance while encircled on both sides by the blue tones. Sweet colours & composition.Definately would have deserve a larger upload.
The song is in chord with the emotion the canvas displays, & worth the Sting’s version.
Thanks for the summertime, it feels good!
