The Middle East in flames – The world drawn towards a black hole – A Crisis indeed. You have such an expressive analogy of colors, one can sense the heat from the reds orange and yellow and the use of green as a compliment helps to make the impact more emphatic. Your depiction of the globe, the flame and the black hole create a unique sense of depth in this piece. Very good Edgar.
This is a very resolved composition, all the more so when I learn that you have used ceramic with acrylic composite. You have much talent in this media! I am fascinated with the green area at the bottom and see this as an encircling movement of a chain fence or dancing figures moving towards the symbol in the center. The circular center feels middle eastern to me and the flame could either be a the hope of resurrection or a an action of destruction. The hole in the upper left signifies a bullet hole to me personally and I believe this combination of elements to be a strong symbolic depiction of crises. Well done and thank you for your submission.
Interesting mix of ritual and cataclysm. It seems that there is some visual confusion in conveying the apocalyptic threat of nuclear doom within the abstraction and colouristic elements which seemingly convey something more of pagan ritual than politically motivated doom.
Edgar This is wonderful with the different mediums you have used to depict Middle East conflict. I keep looking & it feels to me that you melted a wax candle onto the canvas or board after you have finished the painting. The fence also look 2 dimensional as if you thicken the acrylic with molding paste & then added this shapes moving across the bottom of the painting. Now back to the candle I feel that when you were ready to take the photo you hand up the painting pre-focused & then walked over & lite the string of the candle. Walked back & shot the photo. Well done!!!
