This work was in process of being completed as an acrylic work. As I stepped back and looked at it I felt reminded of the tragedy of the destruction of the city of Homs, Syria. The CG modified photos of the crisis of Homs where added along with the spray and text.

The colors and movement in the background add so much impact to this piece. They emphasize the emotion and tragedy in such crises. Even the border adds impact to the work. I am drawn to the photo images and find the central image being slightly larger allows a momentary pause while the eyes travel across the work. I find the cross a little restraining to the overall flow but my primary critique would be that a piece so interesting cries for a canvas at least twice the size.
This art work is unusual in that it combines that rare quality of symmetry and non symmetry that absolutely works! So the cross in the center, the border, the individual photos are symmetry and all else is non symmetry. This works because of the proportions, the size of the border, the cross and the photos. It is rare that I find this unusual combination of elements and you are to be congratulated. I would love to see this work in a larger photograph format. I was unsure of the details and message until I read your statement. However, that being said, this is a powerful statement of tragedy presented in a very creative manner! Thanks so much for your submission.
Congratulations Lloyd. Excellent. I love the degrading of the images as the series progresses. A very memorable act of erasure.
Congratulations your piece is excellent & to the point of a senseless tradgey. I like the division of the 4 sections, that to me shows how many places are destroyed simultanously.
