Terra Incognita series untitled no31 by Lucia Gomez

” Terra Incognita ” Series, Original work. Mixed media on canvas -2013 Lucia Gomez For many years, my interests have been related to metaphysics, geometry, the ancestral, the evolutionary process, and all forms of spirituality. In the “Terra Incognita” series I continue to use spirals, geometric shapes and Golden Measurements that have a strong archetypal context, serving as guiding threads in my abstract expression. And I have also introduced new materials – including natural fibers, cotton paper, and sand – as a way of discovering new pathways to express the complicated reality of the existential process. I am am submitting this piece for the “Da Vinci experience” and EMOTIONS because of its strong relationship between the Golden measurements with da Vinci, and the strong emotions that led me to developing these Series. 1. Your geometric lines as a ratio of the whole canvas using the Golden Rule or Fibonacci’s Sequence are subtly evident and subconsciously please the eye of the beholder. The spiral composed of natural materials installed as a relief bring life to the work and the subdued colors of the field of the canvas its spiritual inclination giving it a meditative attraction.

  2. Thank you for your submission. This composition achieves your stated intention! With the use of the Golden Measurements and an archetypal spiral, there is an intimate, tender emotion within the tiny red marks. All of the composition draws us to witness this sensitive inner landscape. I hope to see more of your art works.

  3. Thanks a lot for your complete presentation Lucia. I appreciate your work for long, I appreciate your use of natural materials, seeds & vegetal fibers reinforcing life presence & sparse but lifting up colors. My only critical point is about the loss of transition spaces as they tend fading to white.
